The second stage of the Help To Buy scheme has enabled more younger buyers to get their foot onto the property ladder which has helped fuel the growth in the property market over the last few months. Selling to younger buyers has become quite popular because they usually have no property chain behind them which is often seen as one of the most frustrating stages of selling a house. If you think that your house would suit a younger buyer then there are several things you can do to make your house stand out to prospective younger clients.

Thickthorn has a very interesting history which has been well documented over the years. It was originally a key settlement in Hethersett which housed a medieval moated hall named after Alan de Thickelthorn in 1240. Although very little is known about this hall it can be seen on a 1799 map which indicates roughly where it was situated. This hall was eventually replaced by the current Georgian Mansion in 1812 which was built by William Clarke of Kettering. The finance was provided by William Creasey Owen of Cringleford although there has been some dispute about whether his name was actually William Creasey Ewing.

The last few months have been an incredibly busy time for us as the housing market has continued to grow and gain strength. This trend has been seen across the county as the economy has seen signs of recovery and new schemes, such as the Help To Buy scheme, have helped first time buyers get onto the property ladder. May has traditionally been a busy month for estate agents and this year the month saw the highest house price increase ever recorded in May. Here in the office we have seen a big increase in the number of buyers and sellers looking for houses here in Norfolk and in our previous blog post we looked at why so many people choose to live in this part of the country. So, if you decide that you want to move to a new house in Norfolk where is the best place to start?

It has been a busy month here at abbotFox as we recently opened a new Bespoke department in our office in the centre of Norwich. The new Bespoke team works with high end properties in Norfolk which have a unique character and history behind them. Since then we have taken on a range of beautiful Bespoke properties including a Spanish Villa on Cotman Road and a Manor House in Bracondale.
