Rob is an estate agent at abbotFox estate agency Norwich

At abbotFox, we have always believed that estate agencies should move with the times.

The way people search for homes, view properties, compare prices, and make decisions has changed dramatically over the years. Marketing has become sharper. Technology has become faster. Buyers expect information instantly. Sellers expect their homes to be presented beautifully and professionally across every possible channel.

And quite rightly too.

That is why abbotFox has always been willing to embrace new ideas early, especially when they help our clients stand out, attract better buyers, and make the moving process easier.

But there is one line we are not planning to cross.

We will not replace the human touch.

We have always embraced better marketing

Long before many others were doing it, abbotFox was already looking at how technology could improve the way homes were marketed.

We were one of the first estate agents to use QR codes on sale boards, allowing passers-by to simply scan the board and instantly find out more about the property. It seems normal now, but at the time, it was a forward-thinking way of connecting real-world interest with online property details.

When social media leaderboards were a thing, abbotFox was regularly right at the top, recognised as one of the most engaging estate agents online. We understood early that selling homes was no longer just about putting a property in a window or uploading it to a portal. It was about creating attention, conversation, and genuine interest.

We were also one of the first to offer virtual viewings, giving buyers the chance to explore homes remotely and helping sellers reach people who could not always attend in person.

We even offered to accept Bitcoin for payments. Admittedly, we may have been a little early on that one, but it shows the point. We are not afraid of new ideas.

Showcasing homes properly matters

We have always believed that a great presentation makes a difference.

That is why we invested early in drones and gimbals, helping us capture properties at their very best. A home is not just a list of rooms and measurements. It is a lifestyle, a setting, a feeling, and a future.

The right marketing can show off the garden, the flow of the space, the surrounding area, the architecture, and those special details that make a buyer stop scrolling.

For sellers, this matters. Better marketing can create more interest, more viewings, and stronger buyer confidence.

So yes, we are early adopters. We like technology. We like smarter systems. We like anything that helps us do a better job for our clients.

But technology should support estate agencies, not replace it.

Why we will not replace agents with robots

There is a lot of talk about artificial intelligence in property at the moment. Some of it is genuinely exciting. Used well, technology can help with speed, organisation, communication, and marketing.

But buying or selling a home is not the same as ordering something online. It is personal. It is emotional. It can be stressful, exciting, frustrating, and life-changing all at once.

At those key moments, people do not just need information. They need reassurance. They need experience. They need honest advice from someone who understands the local market, understands people, and knows what to do when things become complicated.

Latest research shows that 83% of homebuyers and sellers prefer dealing with human estate agents rather than artificial intelligence during the key stages of a property transaction.

We are not surprised.

Because when you are making one of the biggest financial and personal decisions of your life, you want to speak to a person.

We will answer the phone with people, not robots

We have been told that automated systems and AI phone answering can save time. Maybe they can.

But at abbotFox, we would rather not save time at the expense of helping our customers properly.

When someone calls about their home, their move, their viewing, their offer, or their concern, they deserve to be heard. Not filtered through a robot. Not pushed through endless automated options. Not made to feel like an inconvenience.

A good estate agency is built on trust, communication, and judgement. That comes from people.

Smarter, faster, but still personal

Property is moving faster, smarter, and more digitally than ever before. Buyers are searching differently. Sellers expect more. Marketing has evolved. Technology will keep changing the industry, and abbotFox will always continue to be ahead of the curve.

We will keep using the best tools, the best marketing methods, and the smartest technology where it genuinely benefits our clients.

But there is one thing we can guarantee.

Our agents will not be replaced by robots any time soon.

Because it is not just about data, systems, or algorithms. It is about people, trust, experience, and knowing what to do when it really matters.
