This has been reflected in the growing number of house buyers from outside the area looking to purchase a property here.
This increase in interest from outside buyers is not surprising due to the demand for more space these days and more people working from home.
Norwich may not be the biggest city in the UK but it has a lot to offer including a lively town centre rich in history, a choice of beautiful beaches nearby and the stunning countryside providing all the space anyone needs. The city is also one of the safest in the UK with significantly lower house prices compared to London.
When moving to Norwich city from another part of the country it can be difficult to know where to start when it comes to looking for a property, many estate agents will just show clients around a list of properties currently on their books.
However, at abbotFox we do things different because we know that moving to a new city can be a daunting experience. This is why we take the time to show clients different parts of the city to help them get a feel for the place as well as an idea of the area they would like to live in. Our estate agents have been known to take clients on a drive all around the city to show them areas that may suit what they were looking for, of course, this was before the pandemic.
Once we had a family come up from London and we drove them around Thorpe Hamlet, Thorpe St Andrew, Trowse, Eaton, Cringleford and The Golden Triangle as these were the areas that most suited the type of property they were looking for. We then drove them out to Langley to look at Langley School as they were considering sending their children there. This is something we enjoy to do and we can't wait for when life gets back to normal so we can do it again.
We believe it's really helpful for new people to the city because they get a far better sense of the areas by seeing them in person than by simply looking through pictures online. As an independent estate agent, we also have extensive local knowledge which is often something large corporate agents usually cannot offer to their clients. This enables us to provide advice on local schools, transport links, nearby pubs, shops, restaurants and more.
We also ensure we are honest with clients by highlighting potential drawbacks to certain areas based on our local knowledge as independent estate agents based solely in Norwich. This can include certain properties being under airport flight paths or near rail lines and areas that have problems with parking or are particularly busy on football match days. We can also highlight other issues that clients may not consider such as certain streets on steep slopes being inaccessible by car during winter because of snow. Sometimes, people moving to Norwich from London or other places in the south don't realise how much snow the county can get, information like that helps when choosing a new home.
